Life's a Beach
Yeah, life is a beach...
I could do this for a lifetime, sitting on the beach all day, eating shark and watching sunsets.
Yesterday, our last day with our friend Emma, we went to the Wednesday market in Anjuna, which is more of a circus than anything else. I bought some prezzies for a few friends, you guys better be excited cause I am lugging a whole lotta crap around :)
Haggling is an art form and I got quite good at it. I realized that everyone has their own style, and I was proud to develop my own. Trick is, give them a price that they laugh at because it's so low, (for example, they say Rs 1000 and I say Rs. 150) and then I only budge by about Rs. 50 upwards and they keep going down. The more you walk away, the more they give you what you want. By the way, Rs 50 is about 1.10$CAD heh heh. The other trick is to go at the end of the day, when they'll sell you almost anything for nothing.
The rest of the evening we sat on the beach watching sunset and then drank with these guys from Brixton, Chris and Sam, until the wee hours of the morning...By far my favorite experience of this trip was lying down just where the tide rolls in (the water is really aggressive this time of year) and letting the powerful waves roll me in and out of the water. We were in pitch black water under a skyfullofstars.
Tomorrow we move on to Palolem, though it pains me to leave Anjuna. The beaches in Palolem, however, are supposed to be the nicest around! Eeeee!
Check ya later!
