Miss Elanie...Miscellany
I am le tired! and I am le home.
Well it's official, it's over. Two months of relaxation and learning and spending every day with Ryan are over. Who knew I'd miss him so much?? As you all probably know, when you spend every waking hour with the same person (who you happened to be very similar to and who you get on with very pleasantly) you tend to start finishing each others' sentences. We spoke entire sentences for each other. And now, the other half of my brain is working hard at rebuilding itself, but it is a slow process.
All of our million gifts made it home in good shape, except a couple cds and some tiles. Our clothes, on the other hand, will have to be disposed of for the most part. Combined with the dhobi-wallahs (laundry washers), the travelling, the dirt, and the general overuse has worn all our clothes to smithereens.
Ryan made it home in time for the funeral (RIP) and missed the last few days in London, which were spent mostly eating lunches and dinners with Nathalie and her friends, with some drinks with Julien and Virginia, and I visited the Tate Modern Art Museum which was nice. I prefer the modern art gallery in Paris, but I did see one of the coolest things I have ever seen before at the Tate. This guy made a movie with four screens playing clips from movies from all generations in loops. Each clip has a sound (say, for example, three notes of 'somewhere over the rainbow' by Judy Garland) and then they all blend to form this 20-minute song that is really awesome!! I don't know how to better explain it but as a symphony of movie clips.
Otherwise I didn't visit London that much because I just wanted to spend time with friends. The weather wasn't great either, beign less rainy than Paris, but much colder. The weather is actually better here in Toronto.
Which brings me to the last bit. I flew home yesterday after much time spent in LHR waiting in checkin/security lineups and a one-hour flight delay. I watched Little Miss Sunshine and The Illusionist on the flight and got up every now and then to do those suggested in-flight exercises. It was nice to come home to my parents and my dog and go spend some time chatting with Phil. Though its weird to talk about India so soon now, it was nice that he was actually interested in hearing about it and seeing my million photos. Thanks Phil!
So, this is the end of my blog unless I remember some stories from India that I forgot to tell you before. Thanks for being attentive readers and for sharing in my adventure. I had an amazing time and appreciate all the support I got from everyone in planning it. I think I mightg cry now...
My next trip will probably be to the Scandinavian countries and Germany next year (if I find a job that gives me vacation time :)
A la prochaine,
Leanne
